Coles Drysdale was designed to service the need for an additional food and grocery provision to cater for the growing population of Drysdale and the City of Greater Geelong.
With the site adjoining several housing developments, it was important to develop a design that was sympathetic to the residential surrounds and ultimately strengthen the role and function of the Drysdale Town Centre. The contemporary Coles building design uses red cladding and feature materials on the store create a striking presence that is easily recognised. The eye catching graphic solutions are not limited to the Coles store and extend throughout the location enhancing the visual experience from various aspects of the site.
A graphic concrete® birch tree forest was inscribed on the 8-metre-high exterior wall along the pedestrian walkway creating an interesting feature on the site. i2C worked closely with ramsetreid™ technical team to ensure the structural integrity of the panel and were pleased that the long-term cost benefit of the for the Client outweighed the initial expense.
Custom artwork Pic Perf provided an attractive solution to screen an existing industrial warehouse from the site. i2C designed the alpine snow gum graphics which were recreated in durable perforated metal by the Locker Group and canvas the wall stretching along the side of the car park. A turntable was installed by the Australian Turntable Company to facilitate the flow of heavy vehicular traffic in and out of the busy loading dock removing the need for risky reversing manoeuvres.
